Making the kingdom attractive!

Posted on April 13, 2018April 12, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Isaiah 60-63
“Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” (Isaiah 60:3)
To get these words, we have to recall the context in which they were spoken.
Israel was a mess, of the 12 tribes only ‘the Jews’ (Judah) remained.
The glory days of the past were a dream, God’s promise to David seemed lost.
Yet Isaiah dreams of a day when God will set everything straight for His people.
Oppression, violence, abuse, enslavement, injustice, crime will all be ended.
God’s people will shine like a bright light, and others will be drawn to them.
The day is coming when everyone will want to be a part of God’s family.
Everyone will desire His kingdom of love, joy, peace, etc.
Right now that seems a dream too, people are not eagerly coming to church.
Maybe in part because the church does not seem to be shining too brightly.
But when Jesus followers shine with the love of Jesus, people are drawn in.
God still promises a day when people will see the light, and come to it.
In order to see this dream come true, we need to start living the dream.
As we shine with love, joy, peace, etc, Jesus is attracting people to God!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to see that I can help or hinder making your kingdom attractive to others. Let there be love, joy and peace on earth, and let it begin with me!

We/I need to be part of His Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord living in His presence being a Light for all to see. I need to be a living epistle, telling all what the Lord God has done for me. In this way I may b a light which shine for Jesus. I need to be true to Him always. He has redeemed me and be led by His Spirit. I must seek Him daily as I continue to be a builder in His Kingdom.
    LightShine.

Lord, the Light of Your Love is shining,
In the midst of the darkness shining,
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us,
Set us free by the truth You now bring us,
Shine on me. Shine on me.

    Shine, Jesus shine,
Fill this land with the Father’s glory.
    Blaze, Spirit blaze,
    Set our hearts on fire.
    Flow, river flow,
Flood the nations with grace and mercy.
    Send forth Your word,
Lord and let there be light.

Lord I come to Your awesome presence,
From the shadows into Your radiance.
By the blood I may enter Your brightness,
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness.
Shine on me. Shine on me.

As we gaze on Your kindly brightness.
So our faces display Your likeness.
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story.
Shine on me. Shine on me.

think about it!

However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts.
