Adam restored!

Posted on October 25, 2017October 21, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 3:21-37
“Jesus… the son of Adam, the son of God.” (Luke 3:38)
What does it mean to say that Jesus is the son of God?
I always assumed it meant that Jesus was divine, not human.
Son of man equals human; son of God means divine.
But here Luke shows us that Jesus traces His Sonship back to Adam.
This is important; it helps us understand Who Jesus is.
I believe Jesus was the Word of God (divine) become human (John 1:1-2).
But He became Adam (son of God) to restore us as God’s children.
As Adam (son of God) He resisted Satan where the first Adam failed.
He reclaimed Adam’s throne (Genesis 1:26-28), and restored God’s kingdom.
Jesus, as Adam (son of God) holds all authority in all creation.
This was Adam’s claim, but he lost it; now in Jesus it is Adam’s again.
Which means that in Jesus, we are restored as God’s children too.
And wonder of wonders, what God says to Jesus, He says to us by grace too.
“You are my child, whom I love; with you I am well pleased!” (Luke 3:22)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for reclaiming our position, and restoring God’s kingdom. Thank You that I am once again a much-loved son of Adam, son of God!

    Genealogies are important.
They give us our heritage – our roots. Mine can be traced down to the early 1700’s. It is interesting where my roots were.
Jesus’ genealogy is traced back to father Abraham who was promised that his seed would be like the stars. Jesus was human. He was chosen not only the save the Chosen but all mankind. He is the Saviour of he world and in Him and through Him I have life eternal because He has adopted me as His child.

    My Jesus, My Saviour,
Lord there is no one like you,
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.
    My comfort, my shelter,
    Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
    Never cease to worship You.
    Chorus:
Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing,
Power and majesty, praise to the King!
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar,
At the sound of your name!
I sing for joy at the work of your hands,
Forever I’ll love you, forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
    Repeat verse
    My Jesus, my Saviour,
Lord, there is none like You
All of my days, I want to praise,
The wonders of your mighty love
    My comfort, my shelter,
    Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
    Never cease to worship You

think about it!

In essentials unity; in non-essentials freedom; in all things love.
