My heart as His manger!

Posted on October 10, 2017October 9, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 2:1-7
“She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger.” (Luke 2:7)
She placed her baby in an animal feed trough, in a barn.
Where the animals drooled and slobbered and smelled.
What an unlikely place for God’s chosen messiah.
And yet where else could God find us, but among the animals.
We have fallen from our created glory, we have become like animals.
Actually, this is insulting to animals, for animals are true to their nature.
Animals have no choice, but we do, and yet we go there.
This is amazing, God meets us where we are, to help us.
This lowly birth has been romanticized by our ‘christmas’ celebrations.
Our nativity scenes inspire nostaligia, not shame and humility.
This is where God had to come to find us, among the animals.
As a Jesus follower, I have been graciously humbled to know my sin.
But I have also been graciously blessed to know His love for me.
Today is a day to remember how low He had to go to bring me back!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I know the greed and pride and sinful desire that live in the manger of my own heart. Thank You for graciously moving in anyway.

    God’s ways.
    God’s ways are different from or ways.
    Jesus did not arrive in the majesty we expect of a king but in lowliness. This shows the greatest sacrifice Christ would make for us.
    No room at the inn but there was room on the cross.
    He came to bear our sins – my sins.
    He descended so that I could ascend out of my sinful way.
    He was born to die so that I could live with Him forever.
    What a Saviour!

    1 Man of sorrows what a name
    for the Son of God, who came
    ruined sinners to reclaim:
    Hallelujah, what a Savior!

    2 Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
    in my place condemned he stood,
    sealed my pardon with his blood:
    Hallelujah, what a Savior!

    3 Guilty, helpless, lost were we;
    blameless Lamb of God was he,
    sacrificed to set us free:
    Hallelujah, what a Savior!

    4 He was lifted up to die;
    “It is finished” was his cry;
    now in heaven exalted high:
    Hallelujah, what a Savior!

    5 When he comes, our glorious King,
    all his ransomed home to bring,
    then anew this song we’ll sing:
    Hallelujah, what a Savior!

think about it!

The difference between involvement and commitment is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was involved – the pig was committed.
