His kingdom will prevail!

Posted on June 10, 2017June 9, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: 2 Kings 18-20
“You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth.” (2 Kings 19:15)
Sometimes I get tired of watching or reading the news.
Everyday there seems to be another crisis, disaster, scandal or tragedy.
Like Hezekiah, Jesus followers seem to be fighting an uphill battle.
The odds are stacked against us, and our opponents mock and ridicule our faith.
Ours is a weak Saviour, ours is a weak message – or so it appears.
A message of love and mercy and compassion, and a Saviour that lived this way.
We boldly claim that Jesus is King of the world, and that His kingdom is over all.
Even more than Hezekiah, Jesus’ kingdom has been established against the odds.
Despite attempts to crush His movement, it remains the world’s largest.
Jesus and His followers – not the institutional church, but true Jesus-followers.
The gates of Hades cannot and will not overcome this movement.
No matter how boastful or successful its opponents seem, they will fall.
As Jesus followers, let us be emboldened to love like we never loved before.
Our strength is not our size or numbers, but our God, and our Messiah-King!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, may this story of Hezekiah make me both humble and bold. Humble in my own weakness, but bold in Your love and strength. You alone are King over all the kingdoms of the earth.

On what am I basing my confidence? Where do I place my trust?

As the king spread out all his difficulties before the Lord, I need to do the same. Each day I live in His presence and although He sees all, I must acknowledge my joys and my sorrows with Him. I need to see His presence as I live this day for Him. Open my eyes Lord so that I may see You. At all times I need to be living for Jesus. Spirit of the living God, dwell within me so I can live for Him.
    SpiritFilled.
    SpiritLed.

    Spirit of the living God,
    Fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
    Spirit of the living God,
    Fall afresh on me.

think about it!

In an effort to get the work of the Lord done we often lose contact with the Lord of the work and quite literally wear our people out as well.
