Ready or not!!!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Matthew 25:1-13
“Five of them were foolish and five were wise.” (Matthew 25:2)
Did you notice that ALL of them were waiting for the bridegroom?
In other words, these are ‘believers’ or ‘christians’ or ‘church members’.
This story is about wise and foolish disciples, those who are ready, and those who are not.
Jesus suggests that half of those who sit in church are not prepared for Jesus.
Jesus is describing the good news of the kingdom, how Jesus restores us as God’s children.
We have received the oil (the Spirit) to shine bright for God in the world.
Its not that we have to find the oil, we just have to access it and use it!
The foolish ones did have access to oil, but they did not take hold of it!
We have everything we need for life and godliness through Jesus and His Spirit (2 Peter 1:3-4).
Who are the foolish disciples of the kingdom… the ones who don’t take hold of God’s gracious gift.
They have the form of godliness, but they deny it’s power (2 Timothy 3:5).
Our job is to shine bright with Jesus’ love with His Spirit’s help until He comes again.
Jesus is not playing games; He is coming back, whether we’re ready or not.
He will see by how we’re living whether we accepted His kingdom and took hold of His Spirit!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Your church has some who are shining with Your love, and some who are not. You are reminding me as Your follower that You have supplied me what I need. I’d be a fool not to accept it!
