THE STORY OF JESUS: Matthew 3:13-17
“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
As a disciple of Jesus, I look to Jesus as my model, my mentor.
He is everything I was supposed to be!
And through Him, He is what I am again… God’s much-loved child.
Adam and Eve were created as God’s much-loved children.
They were anointed with the Spirit of life to fulfill their task.
But sadly, they failed to “fulfill all righteousness”, that is to do what was right.
They rejected their relationship with God, and made themselves slaves to Satan, sin and death.
Our problem in the world is that we have lost our identity, our relationship with God.
But in Jesus we meet someone – a child of God – that knows who he is, and why he is here.
The words “This is my Son” is not saying that Jesus is the eternal Son of God.
It is what God said of Adam and Eve (Luke 3:38), and what He wants to say to all of us.
We are not without sin, by ourselves we have no right to be called God’s child.
“To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
As a disciple of Jesus, I am discovering the good news of who I am, and why I am here.
I have received again the Spirit of God, restoring me to my creation identity and calling.
And every day I hear Him say, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are my vision. I want to be what You are, to live as You live. Thank You for restoring me to God, so that I can share in the fullness of life as God’s much-loved child!
