THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 5:35-43
“The child is not dead but asleep.” (Mark 5:39)
If physical reality is all that exists, then death is just physical too.
This is what more and more people seem to believe (atheistic naturalism).
And yet belief in spiritual reality does not go away either.
We still cling to spiritual ideas like love, beauty, justice, meaning, purpose, hope.
If naturalism is true, then none of these things are real… just wishful thinking.
But if reality is both physical and spiritual, then life is more than physical process.
Do we die because we are misaligned with, or disconnected from, God?
Like an e-car whose battery runs out, the car is not dead (done for).
It is in sleep mode, awaiting a boost from another fully charged source.
From our point of view, death is the end… but is it?
We believe in God Who created our body and spirit; we are MORE than bodies.
And we are not dying, we are falling asleep spiritually, awaiting a spiritual boost.
No, we cannot prove this, but can naturalists prove its NOT true?
We still cling to spiritual ideas like love, beauty, justice, meaning, purpose, hope.
Because, I believe, deep down we know we are not dying, but falling asleep.
And deep down, we are longing for the day when we will wake up!
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, we are not dead but asleep. Wake us up from this nightmare that we may enjoy life as You meant us to. Awaken our spirits, that our bodies may be renewed as well.

think about it!

Our adversary majors in three things: noise, hurry and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in “muchness” and “manyness,” he will rest satisfied.
