SCRIPTURE: Acts 16:16-24
“These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” (Acts 16:17)
I am curious as to why this spirit of prediction would say this?
Spirits also spoke truth to Jesus – “You are the holy one of God!” (Mark 1:24).
He silenced the spirits from speaking because they knew who he was (Mark 1:34).
James says: “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” (James 2:19)
We need to remember that the truth of Jesus is stronger than even the devil.
He is the father of lies, but though he may twist the truth, he cannot deny it.
My sense is that these spirits will do whatever it takes to make it difficult for Jesus followers.
Even declare the truth, if that works to their advantage.
But what is the Lord saying to me in all of this?
Beware of Satan’s schemes, he is shrewd and will even twist the truth to his own advantage.
He can use a good book, or a good preacher, to mess things up for Jesus and His followers.
Just because what someone else says is true, it doesn’t mean that they are speaking for Jesus, or the truth.
“Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, if Satan even used Peter to get in Your way, then he can use other good people too… including me. Open my eyes to see the spirits of deception at work in me and around me, and in Your Name help me to silence them.
