SCRIPTURE: Acts 16:11-15
“The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.” (Acts 16:14)
This line can be either a copout, or an encouragement.
As a copout, I can blame no conversions in my witnessing on the Lord.
He didn’t open anyone’s hearts to my message, so no one believed.
As an encouragement, it’s good to know I don’t have to open closed hearts myself.
As I live for and share Jesus, the Lord uses me to open peoples’ hearts.
This verse shows me that it is a partnership, me and the Lord working together.
It is my message, my testimony, my life witness… I can’t leave it up to Him.
But He uses me and my message, and works through me, and opens hearts with me.
Doing nothing, and doing it all… neither of these are correct.
I am a partner with the Lord, we are a team, my abilities and His abilities in tandem.
This is what it means to be yoked with Him, so that the work becomes easy.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, we are in this together. Help me to serve with all that I am, trusting that You will serve with all that You are. Together we’re unstoppable.
