    Observations:
    Jacob met the angels of God and even when Esau came close he went to God in prayer, yet still depended upon what his hands were doing – his plans.
    Jacob wrestled with God and received the promise. And yet separated his people to meet Esau.
    The statement ‘I have all I need’ hit me 🙂
    When he arrived, he built an altar.
    The Shechemites wanted intermarriage and the Jacob was to be in the land but not of the land.
    Jacob returns to Bethel as God commanded – and Jacob knew of the foreign gods among his household and told his people to get rid of them.
    Jacob built a memorial after God’s great mandate was repeated to him once again.
    Esau took his wives from the people of Canaan. Yet God blessed him so that the two brothers had to separate their ways because of the wealth.

    Application:
    One needs to purify his ways just as Jacob did. Reforming always to keep the ways of the Lord clear so that the ways of the world do not creep into my ways. I too need to get rid of my gods – the things I worship besides the true living God.

    Do I have all that I need? I spent the first part of my life gathering and increasing my possessions and wealth and the second part downsizing. All for what? God continues to supply all my needs. I just need to have the vision and mission of my life in focus – I am here for Kingdom service and He will give all that I need to be His servant.

    On my journey of serving I need to make pitstops to refocus, renew and refresh myself. Spend time with God alone. And the continue the journey.

    Prayer:

    Lead on o King eternal.

    What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms;
    What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.
    Refrain

    Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
    Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

    O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms;
    O how bright the path grows from day to day,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.

    Refrain

    What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms;
    I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.

think about it!

All the blessings we enjoy are Divine deposits, committed to our trust on this condition, that they should be dispensed for the benefit of our neighbors.
