Reflecting on John 20:11-18“I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” (John 20:17)
If you ask me Who Jesus is, at best I can say that somehow He is ‘God with us!’.
But Jesus didn’t go around saying, ‘hey look everyone, I am God!’
Jesus as God with us was fully human, and lived under God just like us.
He depended on God, talked to God, and related with God as His Father.
And how He related to God, He invited His followers to relate to God.
“To My Father and your Father, to My God and your God!”
There is a sameness between how Jesus knew God, and how we can know God.
This is not to deny that Jesus was somehow ‘God with us’.
But it does show that this is how God in Jesus chose to be with us.
As a Son of Adam, a human just like us, with the exception of sin.
Relating to Jesus as human shows me how I can relate to God as human.
He did not do miracles because He was God, but because God was with Him.
This was the same for the first disciples who did miracles – God was with them.
By His victory, Jesus makes it possible for God to be with us, like He intended in Eden.
To know Him as our God and Father, to walk with God in the garden in the cool of the day.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, as God loved You as His precious Son, God loves me. And every person is now restored as sons and daughters of God - Your Father and ours. May more and more people come to know You and God personally, and to know who they are are children of God!
