Posted on February 27, 2007November 9, 2023 by Norm

I’m preaching on Mark 9:1-10 this coming Sunday (March 4, 2007). Its the daily Bible Reading scheduled for February 26. I really do want to hear from you! Even just one thought, one comment, one question. It does help me organize my thoughts for the sermon. Click on Comments to leave your thoughts.

Oh Lord, give me the eyes that see! God shows His presence and majesty and power and we stand daily in His presence, like his disciples, not knowing what to say and what to do. And when we do speak, our focus is not on Christ. Yet the Lord continues to show us the Way. As the Lord stated clearly the Jesus was His Son and accepted Him by His love, so I too need to accept Jesus and make Him the Lord and Master of my life. He is my All in All. I must listen to Him also on this day. Every day is a day of my Lord. Help me Lord to live for Jesus in all my activities of this day. May I put my hand in Your hand and be my Guardian and Guide.

Is the church today not like these disciples? We have seen God’s glory revealed to us not only through His word but also in powerful ways as He works within and through the church both collectively and individually. Yet, like the disciples, how often do we not respond in fear, doubt, uncertainty or even indifference. We have the greater benefit of having His written word before us to assist us with our doubts and unbelief and yet, we are still blind to His power and greatness? Like the disciples, every time we participate in LORD’s supper do we not hear God’s voice saying “this is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!” The disciples then did not yet know of the power of His resurrection – we on the other hand (also His chosen disciples), do not have this as an excuse so why are we not boldly proclaiming AND living what we know to be truth. God help us!

think about it!

Our adversary majors in three things: noise, hurry and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in “muchness” and “manyness,” he will rest satisfied.
