Singing in the victory parade

Posted on January 17, 2021January 17, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 68

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“He leads out the prisoners with singing!” (Psalm 68:6)
David describes God’s help as a victorious rescue operation.
The Lord rides out with his armies, and comes back with his enemies in tow.
Those enslaved by the enemy are set free, and sing in the victory parade.
Israel represents the underdog, the oppressed and orphaned and needy.
The Lord is on the side of the underdog, and will make things right.
This message continues to be true, and a joyful hope for those who struggle.
Satan is doing his best to mess us up, but he cannot beat God.
Jesus has beaten him, and has ascended to the throne above.
Paul uses this psalm to describes Jesus’ victory (Ephesians 4:7-10).
Having reclaimed creation, Jesus now graces us with his Spirit.
And with the Spirit, we are gifted to live and lead with him.
The world may see us as weak and inferior, but we know better!
We join with David in delaring, ‘we are more than conquerors in Christ!’
I sense Jesus encouraging me to stay hopeful and joyful in the struggle.
PRAYER
Lord, remind me of this truth – of your victory over the enemy and your Spirit in me – when Satan is messing things up around me.

Today is ‘Sonday.’ And this psalm reminds me once again to sing praises as shown in vs 32-34 and vs 4. I serve an awesome God, mighty in power. A victorious God who was and still is and always will be in charge for this is God’s world and I belong to Him. Help me to see You each day Lord. Help me to sing of Your glory always.

Our God is an awesome God
    He reigns from heaven above
    With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

Victory: “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. 20 Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.” Why can I be glum or fearful – God is the victor – daily but also when my time comes to leave this world! Like the Psalmist – there are times that I must enjoy and celebrate this victory – even as it enfolds in its entirety. We see glimpses of beauty and victory – each day God is there – his Spirit helping me. I just need to take note and reflect – get of my busyness to see and celebrate – treasure the moment and offer words of celebratory praise!

think about it!

We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us.
