Because He lives!

Posted on December 25, 2018December 24, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Acts 2:22-28
“It was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.” (Acts 2:24)
Why was it impossible for death to keep it’s hold on Jesus?
As a human, Jesus was subject to suffering and death.
Death couldn’t hold Him because it had nothing to hold on to.
The wages (or consequence) of sin is death (Romans 6:23, Genesis 2:17).
Adam/Humanity has sinned, failing to be God’s faithful image-bearers.
But Jesus resists Satan’s lies even to death, and breaks Satan’s hold.
“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
Jesus’ resurrection changes everything for the world, and for us.
Like the first disciples, Jesus’ resurrection can make us ‘fully alive!’
As Jesus followers, we can live, love and serve with joy, because He lives!
Today is Christmas, but it is also Easter, the Day of the Lord!
Take time today to enjoy this gift, to express joy because He lives!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are alive, and that changes everything. My heart is glad, my tongue rejoices, my body rests in hope… for You have made known to me the paths of life, You will fill me with joy in your presence.

The joy of the Lord is my strength.
This passage is fitting for the day because Christ was born to die so that you and I could live. Live in His presence. Live so that I can enjoy the day in joy. Emmanuel – God with us. His death is not th end of the Story.
    He arose.
    Easter!
    He ascended.
    He reigns.
There I am full of joy for He has made me glad to live for Him.

I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart
I will enter His courts with praise
I will say this is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice for He has made me glad

He has made me glad, He has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has made me glad
He has made me glad, He has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has made me glad

think about it!

Prayer is an upward leap of the heart, an untroubled glance toward heaven, a cry of gratitude and love which I utter from the depths of sorrow as well as from the heights of joy. It has a supernatural grandeur which expands the soul and unites it with God.
