Sent on a mission

Posted on November 13, 2018November 12, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 17:13-19
“As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” (John 17:18)
God sent Jesus into the world for a purpose: to seek and to save the lost.
Jesus lived as a human in order to show the world what humans should be like.
He lived WITH, LIKE and FOR God in the, as a child of God ought to live.
By living as Adam and refusing Satan, Jesus reclaims Adam’s throne.
We are invited to accept His victory on our behalf, and to stand with Him.
But not just to stand WITH Him, but to live LIKE Him, and go FOR Him.
As God sent Jesus into the world to live this way, Jesus sends us.
This is our mission; like Jesus, we are to seek and to save the lost.
We are to show the world the way humans ought to live – with the Spirit’s help.
In your home, with your neighbours, at your school, in your workplace.
Wherever we are, we are sent… sent for a purpose.
Today the Spirit is helping me to refuse Satan, and to reflect Jesus.
This will make me different from others, or at least it ought to.
As a Jesus follower, am I reflecting Jesus wherever I am, wherever I go?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, everything I say and do will either reflect well or poorly on You. Help me to remember that wherever I am, I’ve been sent there for a purpose – to show the world Who You are, and why You matter!

I am not my own but belong to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As Christ was sent into the world but not of the world to serve, so I too am in the world and not of the world created to serve Him empowered by His Spirit leading me and guiding me along the Way. Each day I need to live as His disciple, being a living epistle read by all around me – seeing Christ Jesus living in me – a living witness of His power and grace and truth. Living for Jesus as I walking in His SonShine for the joy of the Lord God is my strength.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands

For it’s only in your will that I am free
For it’s only in your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

think about it!

I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.
