Beyond theology to doxology!

Posted on December 15, 2018December 15, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Romans 11
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” (Romans 11:33)
As a Jesus follower there are many things I do not understand.
But that does not mean I do not believe them.
I affirm many things that I do not understand… starting with God.
I am a part of a tradition that has explored God’s sovereignty in depth.
Like Paul, they struggled with God’s election and human responsibility.
Personally, I think my tradition went too far in ‘tracing out’ God’s paths.
I can’t say what they said is wrong, but I can’t say it’s right either.
I approach these mysteries like Moses approached the burning bush.
I hold the tensions, the apparent contradictions, and admit how small I am.
We can’t put God in a box, He simply does not fit our categories.
Jesus is the closest we will find to God in a box… or a body.
My focus is on His message, and His way, because they show me God.
And in Jesus I see both mystery and grace, which gives me room to be wrong.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for showing me that the God I do not understand, understands and loves me. My heart sings with the glory and goodness of God.

    God’s kindness.
I need to continue that kindness. That is a possibility only if I am grafted in Him for He is my Source of power and strength and of life. As He is loving and gracious, open armed, ready to help, ready to forgive, ready to give what I need to live for Him, so I too need to do the same. Open heart and not hard hearted. I need to be like Christ unto others. As He has blessed me and been good to me, I must be a blessing to others and be good to them. And as far as it depends upon me, I need to live at peace with all, sharing His goodness and love.

I want to be like Jesus (I want to be like Jesus)

Give me a heart that’s pure and true(echo)
Kind and loving in all I do (echo)
Full of mercy for all who come (echo)
Running into the father’s arms (echo)

I want to be like Jesus (I want to be like Jesus)

I want eyes to see you
I want ears to hear you
    Feet that follow after you
I wanna be just like you

think about it!

There is a desire within each of us, in the deep center of ourselves that we call our heart. We were born with it, it is never completely satisfied, and it never dies. We are often unaware of it, but it is always awake…. Our true identity, our reason for being, is to be found in this desire.
