Reversing the curse with Jesus!

Posted on July 22, 2018July 21, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 109
“While they curse, may you bless.” (Psalm 109:28)
David has been cruelly treated, betrayed, hurt… by a friend.
I can sympathize with David, I can see myself praying the same way.
He pleads for God’s blessing for himself to overrule their cursing.
But He also prays for God’s curse to rest on them.
Jesus was cruelly treated, betrayed, hurt… by a friend (Luke 22:48)
But Jesus does not curse people back, He blesses them (Luke 23:34)
Though God inspires David to be honest about it, to express his heart to God…
Cursing is not the way to overcome evil.
It is not enough to rehearse the curse, we need to reverse the curse!
When we curse back, we become like them; when we bless back, we become like God.
Our world today is filled with anger and cursing, and it is only magnifying.
God sends Jesus into the world to break the cycle; He sends us for this too!
“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” (Romans 12:14)
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, my heart is angry to extremists, and the violence they commit. Help me to love them, to pray for their conversion, and to desire their release from anger, violence and cruelty.

At all times my mouth must serve the living God.
The words that I speak must be a blessing and not a curse.
    Words of praise and blessing.
No matter what others may say about me, I remain His child
and He will help me to overcome.
I place my hand into His
and He continues to lead and guide me.
    That’s comfort.
    That’s saving grace.
    praise Him at all times
for He continues to lift me up.
    He is my Help.

Our help is in the name of the Lord
Our help is in the name of the Lord
For the Lord our God is Mighty
    Our help, our help
Our help is in the name of the Lord

When troubles seem to surround us
Our help is in the name of the Lord
When our enemies try to confound us
Our help is in the name of the Lord
    God is good don’t forget
That He’s never failed us yet
    Our help, our help

    His name is Jesus
He’s the rock of our salvation
    Jesus
He’s the lifter of our heads
    His name is Jesus
    Our hope in tribulation
    His name is Jesus
The only One we turn to
    Jesus
He’s the rock of our salvation
    His name is Jesus
He’s the lifter of my head
    His name is Jesus
    Our hope in tribulation
Prince of Peace, Lord and King
    Mighty God is He
    Our help, our help
Our help is in the name of the Lord

think about it!

You don’t always get what you ask for, but you never get what you don’t ask for… unless it’s contagious!
