THE STORY OF JESUS: Matthew 24:36-44
“So you also must be ready, the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Matthew 24:44)
The Doomsday Clock is a symbol that represents a countdown to possible global catastrophe.
This past Thursday (Jan 26), it was moved 30 seconds closer, to 2 1/2 minutes before midnight.
The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists blames Trump, Putin, North Korea and climate change.
Their predictions are based on self-analysis, not God analysis.
People have been trying to determine the ‘end date’ for centuries… and been wrong.
Notice that even Jesus, as a faithful son of God, did not know.
We know THAT the end is coming, but we cannot know WHEN the end is coming.
As Jesus followers we should not spend our time looking up into the skies (Acts 1:11).
We follow Jesus, we aim for Jerusalem revealing God’s love along the way.
That doesn’t change when things like Trump or Putin, terrorism or climate change occur.
Being ready for Jesus means being faithful in doing His work, following His example.
We are not doomsdayers, looking gloomy and woeful as we bemoan how bad things are.
Stop staring at the clock, stop letting the devil unnerve us with his fear tactics.
Jesus IS coming, all the more reason for us as Jesus followers to be doing His work!

Lord, today is Jesus day, not doomsday! While everyone else gets gloomy and fearful, may we be even more hopeful and loving!
