THE STORY OF JESUS: Romans 7:1-6
“We serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.” (Romans 7:6)
Somehow, through Jesus’ dying, humanity has been set free from Satan, sin, death and hell.
Our guilt for our failure to obey God’s Law has been dealt with.
We are no longer under the curse of the Law, the shame of falling short.
There’s no more condemnation, no more burden, no more pressure to prove ourselves to God.
God’s love is in our hearts, and we are motivated by love… not Law.
We do good, we are kind, we offer forgiveness, because that’s how love works in us.
The Spirit of God, the Spirit of love, joy, peace, etc, delights in living and loving like God.
That delight is sparked in me – not to impress God or make Him love me – but because He loves me.
This is a totally different way of living, “in the new way of the Spirit”.
Do you find love, joy peace, etc bubbling within you, looking for a way out?
This is how following Jesus is supposed to be; not a religion but a relationship.
Jesus died to free us from religion, so that we can enjoy life and love with God and others.
If guilt and duty play a bigger role in your life than love, joy and peace, you’re missing something.
Jesus has taken care of our guilt, Jesus has promised victory over our failure.
Jesus assures us of God’s never-failing love – NOTHING can separate us from His love.

PRAYER
Lord, I want my spiritual life to be one of love and joy and peace, the new way of the Spirit! Help me to receive the free gift of Your love, and to let it overflow through me!
