My life, my testimony!

Posted on December 30, 2015January 3, 2016 by Norm

So-let-my-life-be-the-proofTHE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 5:12-14
“Offer the sacrifices Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” (Luke 5:14)
Jesus commands this man to obey the law of Moses; does this apply to us too?
Here it is ‘as a testimony’ to the religious leaders, a message for them.
The message – that as a Jew Jesus honours the law of Moses.
When accused of breaking the law, it was the extra rules He was challenged on.
“God sent his Son… born under the law to redeem those under the law.” (Galatians 4:4-5)
Jesus fulfills the law of Moses (keeps it to perfection, Matthew 5:17-19).
But by His death and resurrection, He also accomplishes it’s purpose, and sets us free!!!
We are no longer under the laws of Moses, but under the Law of Christ, the Law of God.
This Law – to love God and neighbour – is still binding today.
This Law tells us to be humble, submissive, compassionate, generous, both to God and neighbour.
Jesus is not a rebel, He does not advocate revolution against unjust governments.
In any and every situation, including under unjust governments, we operate by the Law of love.
As a testimony to them, a message for the leaders and the people.
Today Jesus would not tell us to keep Moses’ laws as our testimony to the world.
Today He tells us to love people – the good and the bad – as a testimony to them.
That the world may know that we are His followers, His disciples.
What is my life testifying to the people around me?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, in response to things that happen to me or around me, I need to do what Your Law requires – to humbly love, serve and honour God and people – as me testimony to the world.

    Observations/Application
    Leprosy.
    Those with leprosy were separated from the people -unclean and this disease meant certain death. The man recognized Jesus’ power but also his own unworthiness.
    Immediately clean!
    A miracle!
    Go show yourself to the priest as the law required.
    A physical healing
    but
    man also needs a spiritual healing.
    Sin is like the leprosy and eats away our lives.
    Only Jesus can give us healing – new life which does not separate us from Him. In humility I need also to show the love of God in my life to all those around me.
    Reminds me of Humpty Dumpty
    who had a great fall.
    All the kings’ horses
    and all the kings’ men
    couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty together again
    Until Jesus Christ came along.

    1
    Praise Him, praise Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Praise Him, praise Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.
    2
    Love Him, love Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Love Him, love Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.
    3
    Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.

think about it!

Religion today is not transforming people; rather it is being transformed by the people. It is not raising the moral level of society; it is descending to society’s own level, and congratulating itself that it has scored a victory because society is smilingly accepting its surrender.
