Why is it so hard?

fatwalletTHE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 10:23-31
“How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:23)
Not only is it hard, according to Jesus, it is impossible.
I would consider myself rich in this world.
These words speak to me, and I need to dig into what they mean for me.
Do I really care about the poor, the needy, the desperate?
Does my heart break for those who have little or nothing?
What holds me back, what limits my ‘charity’ for others?
I certainly can’t say with the disciples, “I have left everything to follow you!”
What would it look like for me if I was an extremely generous person?
How would my spending habits change?
Honestly, it shouldn’t be this hard to figure out; just do it, just care and give.
But Jesus is right, it IS hard for the rich to enter into the kingdom spirit.
Thankfully, God graciously honours my baby steps in that direction.
But He also gracious pushes me to stretch out of my comfort zone.
He is drawing me into the freedom of love and generosity.
Out of the bondage to self-interest, self-concern… selfishness.
It is not impossible to enter the kingdom, but it IS hard!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for Your patience with me. My heart is small, but with Your help it can grow. I’ve a long way to go towards being generous like You. But I want to be!

    Observations/Application
Jesus called his disciples children. And children are dependent upon parents and the disciples had left everything and were dependent upon Jesus. All is possible through Him.
Children we have seen before didn’t have status. The only status all of us have is to be a child of the King. Then all that I have is His to be used in His service.
Help me daily Lord to use my talents/gifts for You in all that I do. Today God Is First in all things.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands

For it’s only in Your will that I am free
For it’s only in Your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

think about it!

The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending, then having the two as close together as possible.
