THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 4:35-41
“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:41)
This is the big question Mark is answering, ‘Who is this?’
Who is this, announcing the kingdom, renouncing the darkness?
Who is this, healing the sick, forgiving the guilty?
Who is this, even the wind and waves obey Him?????????
Jesus is a man like us, yet a man unlike any other.
There is something about Jesus that sets Him apart, that sets Him above.
Above the curse, above the darkness, above the Deceiver, above the Law.
He is not just a lord, but the Lord over all lords.
I want to know THIS Jesus, I want to go through life with THIS Jesus.
To be with someone Who can sleep when the storms of life rage around us.
To be with someone Who can speak to the storm in my heart, ‘Quiet, be still!’
To put my confidence in this Man, this Son of Man, this Son of God!
I choose to get on board with Jesus, He will take me safely to port.
‘Who is this’ to me? … He is Jesus, my Life Preserver, my Captain.
‘Who is this’ to you?

Observations/Application
The Storm.
The storms of life.
The storm describe here for the disciples with Jesus Christ with them shows that Christ is with His people always. With the disciples, they were safe whether Jesus was sleeping or whether He was awake – He was with them and He was in control, even calming the storm. Yet the disciples were afraid even in His presence.
And I?
With my storms of life? Jesus must be my traveling companion always. He has all things under control. My life is in His hands. He has got the whole world in His hands. So why am I afraid like the disciples? Increase my faith Lord and help me daily to put all my trust in You. Help me daily to put my hand in Yours as I walk in the Way. That’s comfort. Help me to trust and obey.
When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will, he abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
