SCRIPTURE: Acts 16:6-10
“Kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.” (Acts 16:6)
“The Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” (Acts 16:7)
Why would the Holy Spirit hold us back from sharing the message of Jesus?
It’s not that He silenced them, but He directed them elsewhere, other than Asia.
He had plans for them in Macedonia, and He is leading them for that assignment.
“God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” (Acts 16:10)
Not sure if they received a direct communication not to go to Asia…
But I have experienced circumstances affecting where I end up, where I am go.
In seminary I wanted to do a summer assignment in Charlottetown, but I was not selected.
At that point God had not called me to preach to them.
Little did I know that God’s plan was for me to go there after graduation.
I was kept by the Spirit, now allowed by the Spirit of Jesus, for that summer.
But in time, I was called to preach there.
The Lord has His ways, His timing, His plan behind my plans.
This is not just for me as a preacher; God directs our all our lives for a purpose.
He guides us places and circumstances where He can use us to share His love.
Where is the Spirit leading you, where has God called you?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I trust that I am where I am right now for a reason. I am here for Your purpose, to share You and Your love with this community. I will do so until You direct me elsewhere.
